Mr. Shaffer is a founder and the Managing Partner of SPP Capital Partners, LLC (“SPP”); a New York based investment bank dedicated exclusively to the U.S. private capital markets. Since its inception in 1989, SPP has completed more than $25 billion aggregate volume in private transactions comprised of more than 500 refinancings, acquisitions, and recapitalizations undertaken by its corporate clients and equity sponsor relationships. Mr. Shaffer is also the Managing Partner of SPP Credit Partners; the firm’s direct lending platform. Mr. Shaffer became Managing Partner of SPP after engineering a management buy-out of SPP Hambro, the company’s predecessor and the US subsidiary of Hambros Bank PLC based in London. Mr. Shaffer had previously served as the President of SPP Hambro. Prior to his tenure at SPP, Mr. Shaffer was a Vice President in the Private Placement Group at Bankers Trust Company responsible for origination, structuring and pricing of private placements for the Capital Markets Group. Mr. Shaffer started his professional career as an attorney with the law firm of White & Case. Mr. Shaffer is a cum laude graduate of the Cornell Law School, where he earned a J.D. degree, and was a member of the Cornell International Law Journal and is a magna cum laude undergraduate from Colgate University where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He sits on the Boards of CPI, Inc (NASDAQ: ROAD), LIM College in New York City, and Cape Air.
