I have been working at Princeton high school for 13 years. I teach freshman accelerated biology and AP biology. I have coached here, worked on committees like the Green Team, and am the advisor to several different student clubs (GSA and Show Your Uniqueness Club, and I am running the Biology Olympiad Team). I have a Master's in Teacher Leadership from Rowan University and am currently I am working on my 2nd Master's at American College of Education. I have been working on a BLOG that puts together lessons and resources for building SEL, community, EF skills, and more. This was in response to the bill that New Jersey’s governor signed into legislation which ensures that instructional materials (lessons) include accurate portrayals of the contributions made by LGBTQ+ people. The fact is, although LGBTQ+ rights and concepts are currently at the forefront of both social and political discussions, less than 1 in 5 students seem to be taught with any positive LGBTQ+ representation in any form in pedagogy (Kosciw, Greytak, Palmer, & Boesen, 2013). I wanted to help change this, so I worked with Garden State Equality and helped write lessons to enhance inclusion. You can find one lesson in the "Featured" Section below.
