Contracted by Universities Space Research Association • Primary Project: Performed CFD validation of a 1992 wind tunnel experiment for a hypersonic vehicle geometry with NASA’s Fully Unstructured Navier-Stokes (FUN3D) CFD software suite and CAD software Engineering Sketch Pad to simulate hypersonic flow fields for aerothermodynamic characteristics such as aerodynamics, convective heat transfer, and boundary layer properties. This validation project quantified the suitability of a recently developed “Sketch to Solution” work flow.

Contracted by Universities Space Research Association• Primary Project: Aided in the preparation and analysis of a boundary-layer transition experiment on a generic 7-degree half angle cone in the 20-inch Mach 6 hypersonic wind tunnel. Collected high-speed pressure and temperature measurements to quantify boundary-layer instability waves. Applied skills in digital signal processing to optimize the data acquisition system and MATLAB and LabVIEW programming to study the resulting power spectral densities of specific test articles.

• Primary Project: Optimized geometric modifications to various liner configurations to curtail combustor outlet radial temperature profiles and thereby improve emissions, longevity, and reliability during the combustion process.• Side Projects: Confirmed computational fluid dynamics predictions of aerodynamic and thermodynamic behaviors by analyzing adiabatic and non-adiabatic conditions of annular flow using industry standard formulas, assumptions, and boundary conditions. Modified previously existing data analysis macros to improve processing capabilities of atmospheric rig testing results.

• Primary Project: Applied principles of lean management, continuous improvement, and six sigma to produce sustainable improvements in the bakery’s operating systems, management infrastructure, and behavioral mindsets. o Analyzed mechanical lost time data of bread production line to reduce waste and improve efficiency.o Conducted time studies in the packaging area to discover opportunities for increased line effectiveness.o Facilitated standard operating procedure trainings for supervisors.

• Primary Project: Measured pressure drops, volumetric flow rates, and temperature gradients within prototype thermal management systems to quantify fluid mechanic performance in different temperature environments.
