At Levyx I work on very fast NoSQL database and data processing engines. The goal is to design the systems around the capabilities of modern computer systems (multi/many core, multi-channel flash storage, high-speed networks) to improve throughput, latency and dependability of such storage systems. Levix's storage engines accelerate and improve persistence of database systems such as RocksDB, MongoDB, or Redis, and data analytics systems such as Spark.

Embedded Systems Design - Graduate Course - Spring Quarter 2014, 2015

I am researcher for embedded Cyber-physical Systems (CPS), i.e. computer systems that actively interact with the real world. In this area I work on the general design of CPSs, modeling of the multi-domain systems, and to improve their reliability and security. Examples for embedded cyber-physical systems that I and my colleagues at UCI have built are:● Secure and reliable body area network for health applications and first responders. The system uses physiologic (ECG) body properties for easy system setup while ensuring security and privacy. Only nodes that are attached to the same human body can listen and communicate in the network.● A range of smaller educational systems, such as the Falling Ball, the inverted pendulum, self-driving robots to study design practices and development flows. It is interesting that even such apparently simple systems pose many design challenges that are worth investigating to improve embedded systems design in the futureBesides building these systems, I am particularly interested in component-based approaches to analyze and synthesize reliable systems composed of reusable building blocks. My goal is that building embedded and cyber-physical systems is reproducible, plannable, reliable and correct.
