Steffen Walter, Ph.D., is serving as Chief Operating Officer at Immatics since March 21, 2023. From 2005 to now, Steffen served in various executive positions with Immatics, including as Chief Technology Officer, Chief Scientific Officer, Vice President and Head of Immunology. Steffen is an inventor on numerous patents and patent applications and has co-authored more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Medicine, Cell Reports, Lancet Oncology, Brain and Blood. Dr. Walter holds a diploma in biochemistry and a Ph.D. in immunology from the University of Tübingen, Germany.

The main mission of CIP is to promote the concept of assay harmonization, to support technical validation of assays across the field and to establish high-quality immunomonitoring assays in order to guide the development of new immune therapeutics on the basis of immunological outcomes. CIP organizes small- to large-scale proficiency panels to reach quality control and harmonization of commonly applied T-cell assays across institutions. CIP is covering educational aspects by organizing scientific sessions at the annual CIMT meeting, technical workshops and by publishing guidelines on its homepage and new insights in peer-review journals. Currently, the network comprises 55 actively participating members across Europe and the USA and a growing number of labs have expressed their interest to participate in upcoming proficiency panels. CIP cooperates with partner groups and institutions that share similar aims and receives support from the Wallace Coulter Foundation (Miami, Florida, USA) and further industry partners. -
