After being a mentor in the Rotterdam School of Management IBA Mentor Programme, I decided to go one step further and became a Mentor Coordinator. Furthermore, I assisted in the selection of the IFFR Trainee Project for Young Film Critics, that offers young, motivated and talented professional film critics from outside the Netherlands a chance to travel abroad, cover a major international film festivals and, get acquainted with International Film Festival Rotterdam and the broad range of independent cinema it offers.Part of my other responsibilities as an intern was editing the press releases running up to and during the festival, keeping track of the media coverage on IFFR and coordinating the press desk where journalists book their appointments with filmmakers during IFFR 2018. Teaching groups of 15 students as much as possible about the Dutch language and culture over a ten week span. The open and interactive nature of the classes and the diverse backgrounds of the students created a mutual learning while getting a basic understanding of the complexities of the Dutch language and culture.
