I am a first generation African-American law school graduate from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Prior to law school I was enlisted in the United States Army where I gained valuable analytical skills and significantly strengthened my verbal and written communication skills. These skills carried over to law school and became a substantial contributor to my success. During law school, I sought out as many opportunities to gain as much practical experience as possible. Obtaining extensive experience in research and writing through externships and summer clerkships, as well as, participation in classes such as appellate advocacy and competing in the Scott Moot Court competition. Additionally, I gained practical experience in properly handling client goals and objectives, through observation at depositions, trials, hearings, and mediations. Through it all, I found the most value in learning how to effectively communicate with clients by assisting and conducting client interviews.While at Loyola, I had the opportunity to clerk for Judge Roy Paul, Ret. of the Los Angeles Superior Court, where I was continually commended for my attention to detail and my research and writing skills. Judge Paul entrusted me with the task of writing and assisting with further edits of a lengthy proposed order, which gave me such great confidence in the early stages of my legal professional journey that has continued to flourish over time. In addition to my strong communication skills, I adapt well to new and challenging circumstances and have the ability to think quickly on my feet. With the skills I have obtained in other contexts I have been able to readily apply them to many legal situations. I work well both independently and as a team member, maintain an optimistic outlook, and consider myself highly motivated and disciplined.
