Stekel TV B.V. is Roeland’s personal holding company. Besides his consulting work and journalistic assignments, Roeland runs "De Loods in Durgerdam," a co working space and creative center in Amsterdam. From this inspiring environment, together with a network of driven and experienced professionals, he is initiating and executing a variety of projects that focus on innovation, strategic communication, (digital) strategy development or digital transformation challenges. Clients include the NOS, Eredivisie (EMM), Schiphol Group, KNVB (Netherlands Football Association), Talpa Network (VoetbalTV), NOC*NSF (Netherlands Olympic Committee) and the IOC (International Olympic Committee), among others.With years of experience as an advisor and entrepreneur, Roeland is also a valued supervisor. Over the years he has served on the supervisory boards of Omrop Fryslan, Topsport Amsterdam and Regional Public Broadcasting, among others. HISTORYStekel TV BV was stablished in 1998 in Zambia (Africa), and was the first fully digital TV production and post production company in Southern Africa. Together with local staff, countless TV reports, corporate videos and documentaries were produced for a variety of international clients including Dutch Public Television (NOS), SABC, BBC, ILO, SNV and Royal Dutch Embassy.After returning to Europe in 2004 Stekel TV was put on the back burner for some years while Roeland worked at AT5 (deputy editor-in-chief) and NOS (head of new media). In 2010 Stekel TV B.V. was revived when Roeland started working as an independent journalist and consultant again.

VoetbalTV was a highly innovative video platform for amateur soccer. Using AI and image recognition, it was possible to watch matches on amateur fields live, share clips and build a soccer profile.Roeland's revolutionary idea was quickly embraced by the KNVB and Talpa Network and, under Roeland's leadership, grew into a successful technology startup.VoetbalTV went bankrupt in 2019 because the Personal Data Authority (AP) started an investigation against the startup, which resulted in a fine of EUR 575,000 and a ban on further rollout of the business model used. This caused revenues to stagnate and eventually the curtain fell on the young company.In retrospect, this turned out to be unjustified. VoetbalTV won an initial lawsuit it filed against the AP (Personal Data Authority) in 2020. Two years later, VoetbalTV also won on appeal to the Council of State.

Omrop Fryslân is the regional broadcaster in the Province of Friesland. The company produces radio- and television programs in the Frisian language, which makes it the only station in the Netherlands that does not broadcast in Dutch.Omrop Fryslân employs approximately 150 permanent staff and 150 freelancers. The company has a yearly budget of 13 million Euros, with that budget 17 hours of radio and 2 hours of television per day are produced.

As Chief Creative Officer and member of CMI's Board of Directors Roeland focussed on establishing and growing the interactive division, strategic product development and international expansion of the company.In 2010 he set up NLbuzz, the interactive division of the group, and was the driving force behind the establishment of the Infostrada Sports Group by acquiring and merging Infostrada Statistics, Eyeworks Sport, Sport2Media and Unicem Media.In July 2012 NLbuzz acquired The Saints, a leading mobile app development studio in Amsterdam.After rebranding early 2013, all group activities (Creative Technology, Sports, Interactive, mobile and product development) were brought together under one brand: Infostrada. At that time the CMI group had a turnover of Euro 120 million.

Being a member of the Board, Roeland was responsible for developing the digital strategy of the company and overseeing the implementation. During his years at NOS Roeland and his team launched a wide range of extremely successful new websites, mobile applications, applications for set top boxes and interactive television screens. Especially with the digital coverage of the Olympic Games in Beijing Roeland won many prizes and awards which brought NOS international recognition as one of the most innovative broadcasters in Europe.

AT5 is the most popular TV-station in the city of Amsterdam. Besides being responsible for AT5's most popular TV programs like "AT5 Nieuws" and "Kort Amsterdams", Roeland was driving the creative development of television formats and multimedia concepts.

Between 1992 and 2010 NOVA was the leading late-evening current affairs program on Dutch Public Television. In 1995 Roeland joined NOVA as a general reporter, but he soon established himself as a senior investigative journalist and foreign news specialist. He travelled the world, reporting from Sarajevo during the siege, Ruanda on the aftermath of the genocide, The Troubles in Northern Ireland, Turkey on the arrest of Abdullah Öcalan, Israel, Gaza, etc.Early 1999 he moved to Southern Africa to become the programs Africa Correspondent. From his home base in Zambia he produced much discussed reports from Zimbabwe, Angola, DR Congo, Ruanda, Southern Sudan, Somalia, Mozambique, etc.
