Stelios Margaritis is a lawyer and a senior agribusiness consultant with 15 years of professional experience in the agri-food sector. He has studied agriculture sciences, economics, food science in relation to exporting foodstuffs and Law.He is a qualified Lawyer at Athens Bar Association (Greece). He is experienced in Tax Law, Agri-Food Law & Public Property Law (N.2971/2001). He is experienced in interpreting and implementing EU and Greek agri-food legislation in areas such as food labelling, food safety, health and nutrition claims, product recipes, food supplements, Novel Foods, Food Control Authority penalties, CAP subsidies, National Rural Development Programs, quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs (PDO/ PGI) and CHAFEA EU programs on Promotion of Agricultural Products and Agricultural Law. He provides technical and legal support to court litigations arising from disputes regarding the implementation of EU and Greek legislation on EU funding and support schemes, EU Competition Law and EU and Greek food legislation. He represents farmers, agricultural cooperations and food businesses before Greek Public Authorities (Food Control Authority, OPEKEPE (Greek Payment Authority of Common Agricultural Policy (C.A.P.) Aid Schemes), Ministry of Agricultural & Rural Development, ELGO-DIMITRA). He provides export consulting services to agri-food companies targeting the EU market or Third Countries. He has contributed to the drafting of the study: ”Financial Needs in the Agriculture and Agri-food Sectors in Greece, EU and Country level market analysis for Agriculture”, assigned from the European Investment Bank (he has supported the Greek Expert - study delivered in June 2020). He has contributed as a National Expert in the report:” Implementation of EU legislation on “on farm” animal welfare. Potential EU added value from the introduction of animal welfare labelling requirements at EU level”, assigned from the European Parliament Research Service (he has been subcontractor for Arcadia International E.E.I.G. in consortium with OIR GmbH - study delivered in June 2021).
