Our lab is located in the Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology at the University of Maryland, College Park. Our research focuses on understanding how young children’s social interactions with adults and peers influence their cognitive development.• Used the UMD Infant and Child Studies Database to identify eligible families with four and five year-old children and assisted in recruiting 50 parent-child pairs for study via phone and email• Reviewed participant background information and parent questionnaires, scored and checked Test of Early Mathematics Ability (TEMA) and experimental measures of fraction knowledge, and entered/checked related data using Microsoft Excel• Used Child Language Data Exchange System (CHILDES) to transcribe dialogue, actions, and gestures present in fifteen minutes of parent and child play with toys and materials intended to promote understanding of fraction concepts
