I held a number of different roles in various offices during my career with HSE, the common factor in all the roles I undertook was the appreciation received from Principal Inspectors and/or my managers that they were able to rely on my judgement. Some of my responsibilities and achievements during my various roles with HSE included:Manchester October 2002 – November 2003• Liaison with nominated audit contractors for First Aid at Work training course assessment.• Assessment of audit reports and following up on non-conformances raised.• Assessment and approval or otherwise of non-conformance close out information received.• Provision of advice and guidance with regard to the Health & Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981 and the associated ACoPChelmsford July 1999 – October 2002• Receipt and initial assessment of health & safety related complaints, including liaison with other enforcing authorities and Government Departments where enforcement responsibility lay with them.• Investigation of complaints in relation to construction, gas safety, agriculture, light engineering and public services.• Conduct DSE workstation assessments and provision of advice with regard to current best practice.Manchester March 1992 – July 1999• Investigations of, and action in relation to, gas safety concerns up to and including drafting of Improvement Notices.• Liaison with CORGI, (now replaced by Gas Safe) other enforcing authorities and other Government Departments.• Providing support to HM Inspectors of Health & Safety.• Provision of information and/or advice to members of the public, employees, employers and trade associations/unions.
