As a Tunnel Engineer at HNTB, I was responsible for performing routine, fracture critical, and special member inspections of MHS bridges and overhead and all item inspections tunnels. My duties included inspecting various components such as roadway, walls, ceiling panels, supply air ducts, exhaust plenum items, roof slab, ceiling hangers, and utilities.I was also responsible for preparing reviews of Structural Investigation, Testing and Inspection Report, Summary Condition and Grouting Repair results. One of my most significant achievements was performing a condition assessment of the century-old transit tunnel connecting lower Manhattan and Brooklyn under the East River after it sustained damages during the 2012 Superstorm Sandy flooding.In addition to inspection and review work, I assisted in preparing responses to client's review comments to incorporate into final report submittals for Best Practices for Tunnel Condition Assessment, Monitoring and Maintenance. These reports aimed to update Joint Operating Agreement and ensure the proper maintenance and safety of tunnels.My role as a Tunnel Engineer required a high level of attention to detail and technical expertise. Through my work, I contributed to ensuring the safety and reliability of transportation infrastructure in New York City and Boston, making a positive impact on the lives of commuters and the city as a whole.
