About Stephan Bartke

Since August 2021, I have been working at the German Environment Agency (UBA) in the President’s Office PB1 on planning, process management and research coordination with a focus on third-party funded projects. Economist by training, my own inter- and transdisciplinary projects aimed at facilitating more sustainable land use and governance in urban and rural environments. I have been coordinator of the BMBF funded synthesis project Stadt-Land-Plus and scientific coordinator of the EU H2020 CSA "INSPIRATION" at UBA. 2008-2021, I was research fellow at the Department of Economics at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ, where I was synthesis manager at the BonaRes Center for Soil Research (2015-2021) and scientific coordinator of the EU FP7 project "TIMBRE" (2011-2014). I was visiting research fellow at the University of Manchester, UK; assistant lecturer at University of Leipzig, at Anhalt University, Bernburg, and at Leuphana University, Lüneburg, Germany. Within the Association of Remediation Engineers (ITVA), I deputy-lead the technical committee “Site Recycling”.
