As Head of Technology, Stephan is responsible for tech strategy across Singapore and South East Asia. He liaises with various functions within Thoughtworks, such as Demand, Learning & Development, Delivery Assurance, Staffing and Recruitment to ensure that we balance the growth of the people and company with the evolution of the work and opportunities presented by the market.Furthermore, in this role, Stephan also helps to lead a Tech Council who run and organise several initiatives such as training programmes for the next generation of technical leaders, internal conferences and technical sharing events, and the upkeep of the “Sensible Defaults” for running projects and deliveries from a tech perspective.

In this role, Stephan provides consulting services to clients in forming a software strategic direction and architecture: In his current client, Stephan actively gives input into the design and direction of the overall technology landscape across multiple teams and projects.He also leads large teams in the delivery of software using Agile methodologies, Stephan is particularly passionate and strong with Continuous Delivery and the practices that support it. Stephan also works with Thoughtworks as well as clients to help come up with a viable and efficient interview process to ensure the right candidates are hired into the team. He also actively takes part in interviewing as well as overall assessment in go/no-go for any particular candidate. Stephan actively provides mentorship and sponsorship to internal Thoughtworks team members to help nurture and grow internal talents within Thoughtworks.

As a Lead Consultant, Stephan would lead delivery teams to help clients deliver on their strategic software plans. Stephan would work with the client and the delivery team to ensure that they were aligned, and ensured that all the right practices, architecture and approach were followed in order to ensure that quality and delivery timescales are maintained.With some clients, Stephan also spent some time to analyse and improve their own software delivery practices, processes and architecture. Stephan would hold discussions with the clients teams and management to identify gaps and shortcomings of the current practices and then work with them to implement improvements.
