I have been working at TNO since 2000, as senior project man-ager and deputy department head (since 2007). As deputy head I am responsible for operational reporting (workflow, capacity, project results). As project manager I am responsible for generating and running projects, which generally involve geomodeling, spatial analysis, (geo)statistics and/or visualization. The overall goal is to create public or custom-made geo-information for applications such as soil, groundwater and underground resource management, geohazard and risk assessments, building and construction, spatial planning etc. I have executed a number of such projects within time and budget, receiving good customer satisfaction ratings and generating profit for TNO.Since 2006, I have been a key member of a team responsible for the transformation of TNO’s geo-logical database (containing >500.000 borehole descriptions and a number of national geo(hydro)logical models) into a so-called national key-register for subsurface data, with legal status and responsibilities comparable to those of the Dutch Cadastre. My work includes defining the con-tent of the register, drafting appropriate legislation, and designing database and ICT requirements. The key register is planned to go online in 2015.From January 1992 till August 2000 I worked for Fugro NV, an international provider of geotechni-cal services. The topics I worked on were comparable to the present ones at TNO, the main differ-ence being that FUGRO is a commercial organization, while TNO is not-for-profit and more re-search-oriented.
