Practicum placement with a required amount of 175 hoursDuties included option analysis, trouble shooting VoIP switches, phones and Wireless access pointsInvestigating networking issues travelling to other GSS locations to troubleshoot problemsDevice hardening, upgrading/downgrading switch firmware.· Stay current on IT security trends and news. · Collaborating with the IT department on the deployment and maintenance of network technologies. · Installing, configuring, and updating network software, as well as assisting in maintaining hardware and network devices as directed. · Testing network protocols and ensuring stable and secure server connectivity as necessary. · Documenting network processes and layouts.· Prepare post-mortem reports and perform trend analysis on system failures.· Perform troubleshoot on all programs.· Provide support for Windows 2008/2012/2016 Servers and Active Directory as well as Group Policy Objects. · Provides technical support and guidance to resolve user’s computer hardware and software problems. · Coordinates service or replacement of defective products from vendors and manufacturers as needed. · Communicates with users via phone, chat, email, and/or a support ticketing system to assess the scope of the problem and determine what, if any, resolution steps users have performed. · Performing security audits, risk assessments and analysis as requested. · Assist with installation of security software and understand information security management. · · Travel to sites within Edmonton area is required for visiting company locations.
