Concept & Product Development

Graphic Designer
Workshop Assistant
I was employed by &made on a part-time basis to assist the two furniture designers on the making of a office meeting room table.
Research Technician
I worked as a part-time research technician assisting the making of exhibited prototypes for the ‘Goldsmiths Future of Media’ research program. The program focuses on the development of systems for spatialising virtual information in real spaces, and subsequently on the development of new products that interact with these hybrid spaces. Sponsored by the Leverhulme Trust. This extremely valuable experience introduced me to a professional level of work that is done by Goldsmiths design researchers. It also taught me how to produce interactive prototypes.
Eco Designer
I was one of six students selected to act as a collective called in by Torino Council to innovate – in respect of local culture and environment – a range of products manufactured by a local business to be then exhibited at the Balme Eco Museum as materialised images of life in nature. This part-time project was a great opportunity to help me to learn to achieve a studio culture within an exceptional environment. I have always been inspired by nature’s space of production and the possibilities of reflecting them in my methodologies. Thinking through experimenting with materials has been a strong part of my practise since.
Design Research
As part of my MA degree, I was fortunate to get an opportunity to do a research project on the potential of the digital picture frame in consideration of applicable technologies. It was my task to focus on applying interactive interfaces to the D P Frame, communicating out of an everyday living space. The outcome of the project was based on critical concepts and was supported by prototypes, which then had to be presented to a member of the Kodak Cambridge research Centre after the four-week period. I learnt through this project that being a productive entity as part of a team and driving its collective energy to
Design Strategist
As part of a collaboration of Goldsmiths College and car retail and workshop supplier Autotag, I was selected to study the movement of keys and their role within the grounds of selected car retail shops. I travelled within London, visited various shops and centres in order to interview retailers and customers on the condition of service and mapping out the system of exchange. It was very beneficial for me to gain experience in working closely with people for the purpose of understanding what the situation is, as it helped me to keep an open mind in order to achieve a full understanding of the problem. I believe that in the future I can use this skill in my research projects.
Concept Development
Five of my former BA colleagues and I formed a multi-disciplinary design collective. After receiving funding during our studies, we used it to successfully plan and built the RSVP Exhibition at Spital elds Market with the support of the Deptford based Raw Nerve within the London Design Festival 2006. We also achieved to work with Copes and Timmins (largest curtain accessory company in the UK), to prototype a series of domestic objects, which explores the in uence the place in which a curtain rail sits, can shape the actual object. The creatively diverse members of this group made it di cult, but extremely interesting to achieve the identi ed goals. It was important to highlight individual qualities without a hierarchy and, therefore, it generated a sharing of skills.
