As the Chief Medical Officer at Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV), I am responsible for all the medical issues relating to MMV’s drugs in human development and I lead the Medical team. I joined MMV in May 2007, and bring with me significant expertise in antimalarial drug development and more than 15 years of experience with the pharmaceutical industry, the most recently from 2001 to 2007, as Director of the Diseases of the Developing World, Malaria drugs R&D Department with GlaxoSmithKline in London. I also worked with SmithKline Beecham International as Medical Adviser for Africa based in Paris from 1996 to 2001 and as Clinical Research Manager with Rhône-Poulenc Rorer Doma, also in Paris, in charge of the development of Paluther (IM artemether) from 1992 to 1996.
