R&D Engineer in Superconductivity in the division Accelerator, Cryogenics and Magnetism (SACM) of the Institute IRFU (Institut de Recherche sur les lois Fondamentales de l’Univers), which has a major role in the development for physics instruments, detectors or accelerators.The fabrication of advanced superconducting resonator (cavity) requires an understanding of the basic science underlying each process step and its connection with cavity’s performance. Developing this understanding requires an unusually interdisciplinary approach, bringing together ideas from physics, chemistry, materials science, and a variety of engineering disciplines. My research has been directed at exploring this relation between process technology and superconducting cavity performance.Missions: - Work Package Leader for WP09 (Cavity String Assembly for XFEL) and Area manager on cryomodule assembly production line for i-XFEL (Irfu contribution to XFEL).- System engineer for a multi projects clean room and chemical lab: functional analysis, design, process specifications choices. Thank to clean room’s capabilities, XFEL European project (DESY, Hamburg) choose Saclay site as unique industrial integration site for 101 cryomodules.- First implementation in the lab of pilot plant equipment for electrochemical surface treatment of niobium. Conducted project stages: proposal redaction, budget search (European FP6) and planning, process and equipment design, drawings, assembly support, control procedures.- Niobium characterization and identification of intrinsic (second magnetic field) or process related (thermal conductivity due to grain size) limitations. Understanding the origin of the hot spot leading to the rapid superconductor to normal state transition is still under investigation.
