With SmartDrive now part the Omnitracs family I continue in my leadership role directing design and production of APIs, services and modern applications for the Video Safety suite of products.One of my key roles is being the GraphQL evangelist at our company. And as we roll out our micro-services and micro-SPA applications on our cloud platform, I play a key architectural role in promoting solid patterns for building the company's Data Graph and serving it through a Federated GraphQL gateway using the Apollo technology stack and tooling.

Managing a small and diverse research & development team, driving design, prototype, development, and integration across our evolving platforms. The team supports the evolution of our cloud-based solutions while paying particular attention to the design of our unified API layer and interface evolution across Edge and cloud platforms.

Reshaping the SmartDrive's engineering platform to bring our applications and services to the next level and sustain the company's growth. Working on ways to accelerate our access to insightful data and contributing to the delivery of better and more effective analytics to our customers.Leading the charge on delivering an array of elastically scalable micro-services that support our next generation web applications. Those micro-services mostly built using typescript for Node.js are delivering both GraphQL and REST endpoints that are ultimately consumed by React web apps. Scalability comes from using deployment of the services in containers (Docker) being orchestrated (Kubernetes) in the cloud.

Responsible for the creation of disruptive technologies that will rock the world of Data Analytics through the use of Machine Learning and other advanced analysis techniques. In charge of the architecture, design and implementation of a scalable machine learning / data science automation solution. Performing hands on design and implementation work, collaborating daily with the Principal Data Scientist so that together we could leverage the latest advancements in Machine Learning and Data Science, and couple those with state of the art software design patterns using the Scala functional programming language.

Responsible for leading the engineering team through the adoption of the Agile/Scrum software development methodology. In charge of implementing policies, processes, tools and frameworks necessary to the success of the software development group. Contribute to establishing the strategic direction for the development organization and manage the development teams that are responsible for the design and delivery of our products.

Member of the Product Management organization. As Product Manager and Certified Product Owner, participated in high level strategic planning. Represented the interest of stakeholders / primary customers with development teams. Instrumental in decisions regarding long term product development and establishing short and long term product road-maps.

Led product development teams through release planning, product planning, development, and delivery of major components for the electronic discovery product suite.Actively involved member of the R&D cross-organization architecture committee.Performed direct supervision of personnel: interviewing, hiring, mentoring, performance review, and compensation recommendations.Led the initial integration effort of newly acquired Attenex’ document mapping tool with FTI’s existing technology. This project was about marrying diverging technologies and, most importantly, about unifying two organizations with different cultures. For this project, I spent one month in Melbourne, Australia, and was the “Seattle team’s emissary”.Led the final redesign and implementation of the visual analytics review tool, a concept map, into the web based platform using Silverlight. It resulted in consolidating FTI’s position as a review efficiency leader in the electronic discovery space.Led the team that researched and prototyped, in close collaboration with the chief architect, a flexible and distributable processing platform aimed at positioning Attenex as a scalable solution able to deal with Big Data. (Attenex Corporation) During this effort, we explored the use of Open Source technologies such as Lucene.NET, and Microsoft HPC to expand our product offering.Introduced a new machine learning technology (SVM) into the algorithmic tools. Built new functionality using SVM to deal with problematic data occurrences and to add a quality control component verifying review consistency. (Attenex Corporation)

Managed software development team tasked with creating a new web application, eServer Review, for the Primus eServer product suite. This tool was used to review content created in the system and assess its quality.Managed cross-organizational major product release of Primus eServer 5.0.Performed direct supervision of personnel: interviewing, hiring, mentoring, performance review, and compensation recommendations.Contributed to a variety of projects on both the binary client application and the web applications part of the Primus eServer suite. Projects were built on both the Windows platform and the Unix platform using either SQL Server or Oracle as our database and development was done in C++ or Java.

Part of the Maya’s team charged with the integration of the company’s heat transfer simulation packages into SDRC’s I-DEAS Master Series Computer Aided Engineering software. Maya was a third party development group for SDRC.Led the design and implementation of a translation system of I-DEAS models to and from other major vendor’s models (Nastran, Abaqus and Ansys).

Contributed as a computational fluid dynamics and aerodynamics specialist to a Canadian F-18 wing test project aimed at predicting structural life of critical components. Played a key role in creating an innovative software solution for loads simulation of various flight conditions. Led a joint effort with the US Navy Man-Flight Simulation Group aimed at developing their next generation of F-18 A/B load prediction software. I spent 4 months at a US Navy base location in Pax River, MD.
