About Stephan Steyn

Stephan is a PCDT and PIMART-qualified pharmacist with a Master's degree in Clinical Pharmacy, and an MSc and PhD in pharmacology. His research focuses on the role that mitochondrial (dys)function plays in mood disorders, specifically from a neurodevelopmental point of view, i.e., in the paediatric population. He is also an experienced lecturer in basic pharmacology, yet his retail experience enables him to translate these basic principles into practical and clinical scenarios. Lecturing experience has given him the confidence and knowledge to address larger audiences on aspects of antimicrobial drugs and topics related to his research interests.Being a karateka for three decades, Stephan has incorporated the discipline of karate-do into his professional life, making him very critical of his own performance, always willing to learn from others and constantly broaden his knowledge to improve his overall skillset.
