CurrentTeam New BusinessAs a team lead I helped select (interviewed and hired) developers, quality assurance engineers, and user experience designers to build a new software development team from the ground up. The team was specifically set up to work on green field projects and to develop new business opportunities like:- Mortgage leads generation- ‘Self Service Advertising’ platform for real estate agents- Funda website redesign and optimizationAs a scrum master and senior developer I coached this team adopting agile principles as well as software design and architecture. Team Object (“Object” meaning “House”) Funda’s “Team Object” is responsible for processing of thousands of images, videos and other media files and synchronizing them to the content delivery network (AWS storage) every day. The legacy process we had was difficult to maintain, very error-prone and could no longer handle the large volume of media files processed. I lead the team as we replaced it with a new, stable and parallelized process. To achieve this I introduced the team to development practises like - Unit testing and Test Driven Development- Continuous DeploymentAs a result we- Made an end to a period of daily system outages- Reduced real estate agent waiting times from days to minutes- Empowered the team to release and deploy the system without a dependency on the ‘Ops team’.
