Early on in my Payroll career, someone said to me "no-one choses a career in payroll, they just fall into it"... and that is absolutely my story! I was given an opportunity to help out in a pinch, and all these years later, I'm a Payroll Manager and can't imagine myself doing anything else!I'm an experienced Payroll Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the information technology and services industry. I'm skilled in Payroll Taxes, Payroll, Payroll Processing, Payroll Administration, Pension Administration, RTI/statutory reporting. A strong payroll professional with a BA (Hons) Business Studies.It is an oxymoron that a great Payroll team largely goes un-noticed most of the time. People get paid exactly what they're expecting, exactly when they expect it and so they don't give a thought to the team committed to making it all happen!It may not seem like the most exciting topic to some, but I'm passionate about shouting about the Payroll function, the knowledge we have and all the ways we can help. Like, helping people to really understand their taxes instead of just filing away payslips, P60's and P11D's never to be seen again (alongside all those pesky letters from HMRC that people tend to ignore)!What I do 'for fun' will probably tell you plenty about me - after running a couple of marathons, I decided to take up 'Ultra Running' (i.e. anything over a marathon, 26.2 miles). You can only run 100km (62 miles) if you are determined in the extreme, if you can adapt and are able to overcome adversity. And it really helps if you can talk to people and build bonds fast - often those who are also out there on a hill in the dark in the middle of the night can help get you to that finish line and become lifelong friends!
