In the area of health psychology, I examine the long-term adjustment, health and well-being of survivors of childhood cancer and their families. In 2015, I received a grant from the Association for Research of Childhood Cancer to support my research in this area. In the area of multicultural psychology, I have studied the unique social and ecological circumstances and the corresponding developmental competencies of racial/ethnic minority and/or first-generation students.I am a member of the WSU President's Teaching Academy and the WSU Quarter Century Club.

I coordinated the Master's Program in Counseling at WSU Tri-Cities and served as the chair for 116 Ed.M./M.A. students. Courses taught included: Theories, Research and Techniques in Counseling Psychology I; Career Counseling: Theories and Methods; Ethics and Professional Problems in Counseling Psychology; Theoretical Foundations of Group Counseling; Life Span Development and Counseling Issues; Counseling Diverse Populations; Issues in School Counseling I and II; Master's Internship in School Counseling; Master's Internship in Community Counseling; Theories of Learning. I conducted research which looked at developmental concerns and the role of resilience and empowerment within the broader scholarly areas of multicultural psychology and health psychology.

I provided counseling, outreach and consultation to undergraduate and graduate student clients. I also provided clinical supervision to doctoral students in clinical psychology from the Curry School of Education.
