Emergency medicine physician with a writing problem. Recovering author of my dramedy memoir "Love, Sanity, or Medical School." EMS and wilderness medicine fellowship trained. Will write for food.I took up journaling to help unwind from my wild recess and snack time ventures in kindergarten, and haven’t stopped writing since. I've been published in The New York Times, KevinMD, GomerBlog, and Annals of Emergency Medicine, among various other medical and mainstream venues. As a freelance writer, I've written for venues ranging from book chapters to blogs, from scientific journals to satirical websites, and from textbooks to television shows.I'm dedicated to sharing the physical and psychological benefits of journaling, as writing has always been my therapeutic outlet. The deaths of my siblings inspired me to become a doctor, while 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina focused my sights on EM and EMS. After my emergency medicine residency at UCSF Fresno, I completed fellowships in both EMS and wilderness medicine. I currently practice emergency medicine and am the medical director for several EMS agencies in Southern California.
