CurrentProviding advice and information to parents of pupils with special educational needs, consistent to the relevant legislation and to the Authority’s SEN policy and procedures. Arranging the admission of EHCP pupils to other LEA’s special schools and, when required, to independent special schools and FE Colleges. Maintaining relationships with families and schools for all EHCP’s for KS4&5, including dealing with multiple time sensitive requests for consultations, transfers, Annual Reviews and general queries.First point of contact for telephone calls to the SEN Manager, which may be of a complex nature, referring as appropriate. Monitor and adhere to statutory time scales and to notify the Special Needs Manager to any potential difficulties.Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality with a sensitive and supportive attitude when dealing directly with parents and professionals.Deal with all administrative work relating to pupil admissions to West Berkshire FE Colleges, particularly relating to post 16 procedures.Monitor and process all administrative work relating to Annual Reviews of EHCP pupils.Maintain and update accurate records of pupils attending specialist schools or resources, including West Berkshire pupils placed in other LEA provision or in non-maintained schools.Collate and present statistical information about pupils’ special educational needs.Process requests for transport from schools and parents, liaising with the transport officers. Draft letters relevant to cases as required by senior officers.Provide general support to senior officers on case work matters, including provision of briefing notes and case summaries. To be aware of and anticipate potential problems relating to individual cases and to alert senior officers.
