When I was 27 I rode a bike for the first time. Ride? Maybe balance for a few seconds before falling off. In front of my new boss who was hoping to get some shots for a National Bike Week supplement. I secretly hoped I would be a natural. That was the start of big things for me. My boss didn't take the easy option but trained me in journalism, outdoor and cycling PR. From the minute I walked into his office I knew I wanted a job in marketing and I was prepared to work really hard to change my path.I learned two things that day: never say you can do something you can't, it's just embarrassing; two, if you're prepared to put the hours in, have endless enthusiasm and drive you can convince a disappointed boss that you're the right hire! Today I'm the Owner of Spring PR, an outdoor active lifestyle marketing agency that's proud to have worked with some of the industry's leading brands including Osprey, Giant, Polartec, Mammut, Hydro Flask and Nikwax. We offer a complete suite of marketing activity tailored to a client's bespoke needs - writing and managing effective campaigns, creating and running press events, coordinating media relations, social media management, copywriting and video production, and handling media buying.I was right that day. This is the career for me. And unlike those early days, I now recognise I'm not a natural at everything. I do however surround myself with awesome people who are some of the best in the business. It's about teamwork and Spring PR is a great team!
