I was born to be a people person! That may sound like a cliché, but when I think about where I’ve been and where I am today… it is the people I have met throughout my life that continue to fuel me – both personally and professionally. Whether it is helping drive the people strategy as the Vice President of Human Resources in the hospitality industry, to planning a company event, bonding with my girlfriends at our monthly wine club, playing soccer mom on the weekends, traveling with my family or volunteering in just about any capacity… it’s the people I engage with that leave lasting memories! Although I started college at Michigan State University as a psychology major (GO GREEN!) and eventually switched to Communications… 20 years later, I am right where I should be, doing exactly what I should be doing! From my days in retail to my current position with RRI West, an affiliate of Red Roof where I have honed my HR skills, human resources allows me to fuel that people passion in more ways than I ever realized. HR professionals are required to wear many different hats depending on the situation. My ability to relate and adapt allows me to be a party planner, policy enforcer, mediator, coach, legal representative, and yes – even a psychologist in some ways, at any given time… and sometimes all in one day! It’s not a job for everyone… but it is the job for me!
