As part of my degree program at Saint Xavier University I was assigned to teach for one semester at Evergreen Park Community High School. I planned and instructed two 80-minute block periods for 9th grade English. During this time I used the experience to successfully complete my edTPA submission to Pearson Education in accordance with SXU School of Education requirements. Additionally, I obtained my Professional Educator License with endorsements in Secondary English Language Arts, Middle School Language Arts and Social Sciences, and English as a Second Language for Grades 6-12.

I taught a weekly Religious Education class to seventh graders preparing to make their Confirmation in their eighth grade year.

Under the direction of the Veteran Recruitment Specialist, I reach out to veterans who have expressed interest in or applied to Saint Xavier University to ensure they submit all necessary paperwork. I also answer questions about the experience at SXU, educational benefits, and veteran resources on campus. In addition, I research local events for recruitment potential.

I trained at Fort Jackson, Fort Sam Houston, and Fort Benning before being stationed at Fort Hood. I spent my last year at the 36th Engineer Brigade consolidated aid station, pending medical discharge. Duties included providing limited primary care, promoting wellness, assisting providers with procedures and exams, and administrative tasks.

My primary responsibilities involved answering and directing incoming calls, and greeting visitors. In addition I scheduled meeting rooms and provided appropriate refreshments, distributed incoming mail and prepared outgoing mailings. I enjoyed working for a company with an inspiring entrepreneurial history and could not have asked for a better group of people to work with. My favorite perk was playing on the company volleyball team and authoring recaps of our games to be shared with the company at large.

I spent each shift merchandising and maintaining the children's department of the North Brunswick Barnes & Noble. This involved managing incoming product, removing items to be returned to the publisher, creating displays based on company planograms and visual merchandising standards. I also assisted with store events relating to children, including but not limited to school book fairs, educator appreciation events, and weekly storytime. In December 2010 I played an important role in planning activities for my store's annual Polar Express Storytime, that was coupled with the grand opening of the Educational Toy & Game Department. Our success with the event was featured on the company's internal website, BN Inside.Other responsibilities of this position included customer service and some new hire training.
