I earned a bachelor's and master's degree in communication studies at San Jose State University. My master's degree project focused on individuals with significant mobility and communicative differences and their autonomy, independence, and sense of self. I recently served as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate and Educational Rights Holder for an older youth with complex developmental needs. Additionally, I participated on a UC Davis research advisory committee on healthcare inclusion for individuals with developmental differing needs. I work as a peer counselor for those with AAC needs through AAC Peer Support: Empowering Individuals to Find Their Voice, aiming to be person-centered, solution-focused, strength-based, and goal-oriented while sharing coping strategies and skills. I am pursuing a second master's degree in Mental Health Counseling to become a mental health counselor and child, couple, and family therapist. I volunteered in classes for students with complex physical and communicative abilities for ten years. I live in Sacramento, California, with my wife, our young child, and a sassy cat. My passion is to help people with mental health needs, so I am focusing on my second master's degree to become a mental health counselor and marriage and family therapist.
