The American Variety Theatre Company was an inner city children's theater company. While we did run a full time class program and full season of shows, everything we did had a social outreach component. We were named a point of light for outstanding youth programming, were one of 6 youth programs highlighted on a Wonder Works TV special focusing on highly successful programs teaching youth leadership skills, were part of 2 GAO Congressional reports on creative drug resistance education programs, were used as a model for large corporations looking to increase their social outreach programs, worked with a girls correctional unit, and had an exchange program with a youth theater company from Moscow, Russia.
