I led Universities UK’s policy and advocacy work in the areas of immigration and free speech.Key achievements:• Securing the reintroduction of a post-study work visa for international students which has led to increased competitiveness of the UK as a study destination.• Leading development of UUK’s response to the Government’s immigration white paper and achieving a reduced salary threshold for those with PhD’s in the new immigration system.

Policy analyst working to develop the evidence base underpinning Universities UK’s policy positions on the Teaching Excellence Framework, the student information landscape and the demand for graduates and higher-level skills.Key achievements:• Key contributions to UUK’s flagship report on flexible learning which provided the main evidence base for the organisation’s response to the Augar Review of higher education funding in England.• Leading research to develop UUK’s policy positions on the TEF, leading the production of two high-profile reports on Year 1 of and the future of TEF.• Producing a range of research reports in the area of skills policy including on routes to high-level skills and graduate retention.

Policy Officer to the Vice-Chancellor at Bath Spa University. This was a diverse role which included monitoring policy developments related to the higher education sector as well as the wider political environment relating to external political, legislative, economic and social developments of relevance to Higher Education. I also undertook research and analysis of complex information to provide written and verbal briefings to senior stakeholders; interpreting the information to determine likely implications for the University and made recommendations on appropriate action. I also prepared materials and presentations for the Vice-Chancellor.

Elected sabbatical officer at Bristol Students' Union, responsible for sport and student development. A trustee of both Bristol Students' Union and the University of Bristol. Sat on the BUCS advisory board.
