Completing a thesis that focuses on water quality in stagnant household plumbing systems.Leading sampling efforts for experiments where household plumbing walls that have been stagnant for months are sampled, flushed, and sampled again. Completing total organic carbon (TOC) analysis, inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analysis, and ion chromatography of samples. Biofiltering qPCR samples which I will use to analyze microbial communities. Coordinating with other students to create sampling and filtration schedules for each experiment and delegating tasks to prepare all equipment for each experiment.

Assisted with partial lead service line replacement study. Collected and analyzed water samples in pipe loop testing. Cleaned data. Assisted with calculations for the design of a water treatment plant. Completed AutoCAD tasks and edits. Backchecked AutoCAD drawings.

Assisted with lab experiments involving contamination and decontamination of drinking water pipes. Learned about the contamination of drinking water systems due to natural and man-made disasters and how decontamination varies depending on the type of pipe, decontamination method, and chemicals present in the water. Learned water quality measurement techniques. Traveled to East Palestine to collect water samples from households and the creek after the chemical spill in February 2023. Created MATLAB figures for an experiment report.

Worked at the Bindley Bioscience Center at Purdue University. Prepared biological samples for mass spectrometry by pipetting, doing liquid-liquid extractions, weighing samples, and preparing solutions. Learned how to use a MALDI mass spectrometer to collect data from samples and how to analyze data from a mass spectrometer.

Made sure that the patrons at the pool were safe by scanning the pool and stopping anyone doing anything unsafe. Cleaned the pool, bathrooms, and pool deck, and answered questions that the patrons had.
