During this time I volunteered as the co-leader for the Kansas City chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness network. I also operated a small business providing doula birth support. The business side included developing and maintaining website using Wordpress, performing search engine optimization, planning, marketing, bookkeeping and accounting. The client facing side included consulting to understanding the desires and needs of the client, providing resources and education to support said goals, and provide coaching during labor.

At HNTB, I had to opportunity to work on a wide variety of systems and technologies, from C#.Net web applications using a SOA architecture built on Spring.net, to Essbase multidimensional database, SQL, as well as supporting legacy application in COM+. I enjoyed the positive, collaborative environment, as I worked with functional users, business analysts, and our architect to define requirements and specifications.

While at Cerner, I developed new functionality in the Health Information Management system using Visual Basic. I met aggressive timelines contributing to the successful securing of the bid tobecome the software provider of the southern cluster in the UK. I worked with Business Analysts to help detail our requirements. I also helped mentor new associates and did educational presentations.
