When you forget to go home because you're engrossed in your work, you know you've found the right career. Though it wasn't originally what I was paid to do, coding was clearly what I was born to do.Those years spent in finance weren't a loss, though: they taught me to think about the business case behind a feature; about the end user who HATES COMPUTERS JUST MAKE IT WORK; about the forest and not just the tree. I learned to work with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds and to understand that they approached things a little bit differently. I learned about building a team, streamlining processes, automating what you can, and documenting everything. And I'm a better coder for it.
