Motivated by the data driven and community-oriented interventions of public health, and inspired by the design theories and policies of city planning, I believe it is possible not only to build clean, safe, and vibrant communities, but sustainable, resilient, and healthy ones. By immersing myself in the intersection of these fields, I hope to advocate for the development and standardization of health-conscious urban design. I aim to participate in the research and discussion of environmental public health in the built environment, as well as empower community groups to lead their own interventions. City planning offers unique solutions to address and improve public health; and, it is my aspiration to contribute to this movement and create healthy cities by design.
