About Stephanie Mcdowell
Hello! Thank you for visiting my profile! My name is Stephanie McDowell, and I am a Registered Nurse of three years at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center. I provide holistic nursing care to my surgical oncology patient population, with honor, dignity, respect, and nurturing therapeutic communication. My values include providing hope, healing and the best healthcare for the client and their families, while promoting honor and dignity to the mind, body, and soul of the patient population. Furthermore, I provide excellent clinical care as well as superb service and communication to clients and their families, while concurrently instituting leadership and increasing standards of client care. Demonstrating this, I have refined my adaptation skills within the various clinical unit settings in order to administer individualized nursing care for distinct patient needs. Additionally, three years of surgical oncology client interaction and implementation of care enhanced my ability to facilitate an atmosphere of trust, and nurturing within my patient rapport. Previous Experiences I am a graduated nurse from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. I have graduated with 900 clinical hours and have successfully completed a three month long preceptorship on the clinical Medical-Surgical Oncology unit at this hospital. I chose the clinical oncology unit in order to care for clients and create a comfortable atmosphere for the clients during a difficult time in their lives. The foundation of nursing was built on understanding that humans are mind body and spirit. Oncology nursing really embodies this foundational practice. This preceptorship experience strengthened my skills and knowledge about medical surgical techniques used within my practice of caring for patients. Furthermore, the oncology unit reinforced my coping skills, thus transferring the strength I had gained to aid the client's family in coping with the emotional situation presented at the time. Understanding this, I applied pliability in under pressured circumstances, thus allowing me to be adaptable in any client care situation.A portion of my academic nursing career consisted of pediatric nursing. I engaged in application of pediatric knowledge and skill to the Pediatric Medical Surgical Unit at St. Luke's Hospital of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Prior to beginning nursing school, I was employed at Somerset Pediatric Group of Raritan, New Jersey as a medical assistant.
