I began my career at Giant Eagle as a QA Specialist, but quickly transitioned to a Regulatory Compliance Specialist. As a QA Specialist, key activities include working with independently owned stores to generate nutritional information for store-made items in bakery, deli, prepared foods, and meat departments ensuring compliance with FDA Menu Labeling Law, and working to ensure that all partially hydrogenated oils are removed from all recipes. Documentation Specialist

Began my job as a “lab assistant”, but worked to learn as much as I could about FDA and USDA regulations as related to food labeling. In doing this, I created a new position in which I was responsible for generating all labeling information for samples being sent out. The work that I was doing for Foodservice Soups was noticed by HPC (Heinz Portion Control) and I started working for that business unit as well. I also became an expert at the Oracle software that was used for generation nutritional information and trained all new employees to use this program. Generated finished product specification sheets for all Branded and Proprietary Foodservice items, uploaded to Heinz Web Sales Portal, and managed the content of the sales portal. Updated the sales portal to ensure that the most current spec sheets were available to the sales staff.  Worked to get vendors and ingredients approved for use.  Managed the sample tracker to give a clear picture of the many successes in Foodservice.
