I am a lawyer with the Department of Justice Canada. I have a broad civil litigation practice. I also have a keen interest in public law, international issues, and grassroots community building. I have a background working in the non-partisan public sector both in Alberta and federally, where I transitioned from the parliamentary to the legal world. In the past, I led non-profit organizations both on a paid and volunteer basis where I learned to thrive as a self-starter, mentor, and team-player. I am passionate about empowering women in leadership, engaging youth, educating about good governance practices, and promoting cultural diversity.

Research AssistantUniversity Of Ottawa - Faculty Of Law | Common Law May 2020 - Apr 2021- Assisted Professor Jamie Liew on a project focused on non-resident births, immigration, and citizenship- We interviewed Ukrainian and Russian speaking women from Ukraine, a non racialized community, who gave birth to a child in Canada as a non-resident. We produced a paper discussing the non-resident mother experience in Canada. This paper responds to the public discourse that identifies "birth tourism" as a problem. We use preliminary qualitative research to challenge the assumption that non-resident mothers are giving birth to acquire citizenship for their child. Our initial findings suggest that non-resident mothers from Ukraine show a multitude of reasons for giving birth to a child in Canada. Some of these reasons include a previous tie to the Canadian state. -
