• Manage Water Team portfolio of $65 million, and lead a diverse and globally based Water Team responsible for thought leadership, knowledge sharing, program development, resource mobilization, policy influencing and advocacy on water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), nutrition sensitive WASH, water for agriculture, and integrated water resources management (IWRM). • Lead strategic direction of CARE’s Water+ work in collaboration with CARE country offices and international teams, facilitate and maintain strategic partnerships and coalitions to advance the WASH sector globally and multiply CARE’s impact. Board Member to the Millennium Water Alliance, and Steering Committee member for the Agenda for Change. • Develop and promote integrated and multi-sector strategies for water and nutrition, food security, health, women’s empowerment, sustainable agriculture, conservation and climate change adaptation. Provide thought leadership for CARE’s broader impact in Food and Water Systems and towards SDG6.

• Lead Water Team efforts in working with CARE staff in country offices and in the U.S. on programs that include policy change and policy implementation, including: capacity building, research and program design, and translating research into policy and advocacy. • Provide strategic support and analysis for CARE’s global and country program initiatives, particularly in areas of collaborative programming, such as WASH and nutrition/food security, WASH governance and sustainability, WASH and neglected tropical diseases, and WASH research for advocacy.• Lead CARE’s influence on US policies on foreign assistance for water through working groups and close coordination with civil society organizations, U.S. government officials, and legislative contacts.• Program design, fundraising, representation, and communications – particularly related to policy, advocacy, and to CARE’s Water Strategy.

• Provide technical support in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and develop WASH engagement strategies for Children Without Worms and the International Trachoma Initiative.• Facilitate dialogue between the WASH and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) sectors at the policy and implementation levels.• Develop and foster opportunities for collaborative program implementation and research between the WASH and NTD sectors.

• Conducted in-country policy research as basis for a co-authored, global UNICEF report on Equity in WASH in Schools. • Designed and conducted original qualitative and quantitative research to form the basis of Water For People’s emergent strategy in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). Completed a detailed case study of IWRM in policy and practice in Rwanda. • Developed sustainable strategies for IWRM intervention within the WASH sector agenda, as well as indicators and criteria for monitoring and evaluation (M&E).• Conducted trainings and capacity building with Rwandan communities and local government, and participated in Rwanda’s National Technical Working Group on IWRM.• Conducted outreach via blogs and presentations, and presented research findings at 5 international conferences.• Led Water For People’s efforts towards long-term sustainability of water sources and rural WASH solutions across Water For People’s 10 country programs, and adapted IWRM strategies across cultural contexts, conducting field-work in Rwanda, Guatemala, Honduras, and Uganda.

• Conducted quantitative and qualitative research regarding the integration of science into natural resources policy decisions, as well as research regarding trans-boundary river basin organizations and international funding trends in IWRM as contribution to the Transboundary Freshwater Dispute Database (OSU).

• Designed and facilitated technical and cross-cultural trainings for 3 incoming groups of Peace Corps Volunteers in four technical areas: Rural Health and Sanitation, Agro-forestry, Municipal Development, and Youth Development. • Led M&E of technical, language and cross-cultural training areas • Assisted in the preparation of the yearly Training Evaluation Report and the yearly training budget for the Peace Corps El Salvador program• Coordinated the assistance of Salvadoran national agencies, international development agencies, and host communities in achieving training program objectives• Assumed responsibility of Acting Training Director from May- August 2007

• Directed the work of a small, local staff to achieve foundation goal of identifying and training rural women to be community visual-health promoters, with the objectives of: increasing nationwide access to visual health care, promoting the important role of women within their communities, and providing training and income-generating opportunities for Salvadoran women.• Designed and prioritized program activities based on available funding.• Created and implemented training objectives and strategies as well as designed participatory didactic models for community training sessions.• Initiated and maintained relationships with partners from other NGO’s, govt. and private organizations, to strengthen program and ensure its continued success.• Performed regular evaluations of program needs, goals, and procedures (M&E).• Conducted regular visits to rural communities in order to get a better understanding of the program at its most practical level and to encourage the success of our individual health promoters.• Led the program to economic self-sustainability by July 2006.

• Assisted community members and the local governing committee of a remote, rural community in eastern El Salvador to prioritize community needs, and to coordinate with government agencies as well as national and international NGOs to achieve community development objectives .
