My responsibilities included nursing duties such as: monitoring patients’ vital signs, glucose level checks, administering foley catheters, removing IVs, helping patients with hygiene care and attending to their needs while hospitalized. In addition, I was also in charge of training CNA students as well as new employees, and documenting vital and sensitive healthcare information.

Throughout this internship, I shadowed a gastroenterology physician assistant several times per week to increase my knowledge about medicine and the GI specialty. During this time, I conducted rounds on patients in the hospital and learned about various clinical assessments and treatment plans. Moreover, I was able to observe endoscopic procedures along with feeding tube placements and removals.

While working at Petco, I performed managerial obligations, trained new employees and conducted company and product orientation. Furthermore, I was responsible for office work, opening and closing duties of the store and in charge of important money transactions and register auditing.
