Dr. Stephanie Patch is the Owner of Coastal Zone Engineers, LLC and a Professional Engineer with 10 years of experience in coastal engineering. She is also an Assistant Professor of civil and coastal engineering at the University of South Alabama. Stephanie has expertise in physical changes of sandy beaches, such as beach erosion and accretion, due to short-term and long-term processes. She uses hydrodynamic and morphodynamic modeling to analyze the impacts of civil infrastructure on morphological changes of barrier islands during tropical cyclones. Stephanie has developed “adaptation pathways” for barrier island communities in New Jersey and Alabama as responsive planning tools for adapting to sea level rise and future storms. She is also passionate about involving the general public in coastal resilience education and continually seeks opportunities to remain involved in community outreach and education.
