I work with an interdisciplinary team of researchers at the Montana Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit, USGS National Wildlife Health Center, Willamette University, and Ventana Systems, Inc. to examine the interactions among ecological, social, economic and political factors affecting wildlife health issues including Chronic Wasting Disease in wild ungulates. We use participatory modeling and systems dynamics approaches to develop quantitative models that describe the disease system and examine the impact of management options on disease outcomes as well as the consequences to socio-economic and political factors associated with the system. These models are used to develop management flight simulators that can be readily used by stakeholders to visualize the entire problem space when evaluating the outcomes of different management options.

Oversight of all aspects of project management, including project acquisition, logistics, and final reporting to clients. I work closely with both clients and staff to design and execute surveys that meet their needs and satisfy applicable federal and state regulations.

I began working with Polar Bears International as a volunteer. In subsequent years I have recieved stipends for my time and efforts with the organization. As a Field Ambassador I provide expert knowledge of polar bear and sea ice dynamics at the Polar Bears International House in Churchill, Manitoba to visitors of all backgrounds and knowledge levels. I prepare and deliver engaging presentations regarding novel polar bear and sea ice research with appropriate details for target audiences in academia, media, and industry. I honed my communication skills to explain complex methodologies to media outlets (Global News, 7News AU, CTV, Canadian Geographic) in an effort to disseminate research to the public.

Responsible for implementing my knowledge of Myotis habitat to maximize potential catch of target bat species during endangered species surveys. I performed mist net site reconnaissance using mapping software and ground truthing to ensure the best possible habitat selection within the constraints of the project. I organize, complete, and submit all necessary reporting in a timely manner while strictly adhering to all relevant protocol ensuring the safety of researchers and bats. Coordinate with clients and various stakeholders to execute projects as desired while adhering to government regulations. Hire, train and manage new technicians in proper equipment use and protocol for bat surveys

Organizing, directing and participating in all aspects of the tracking of threatened/endangered radio tagged bats via radio telemetry equipment. Team lead biologist for presence/absence surveys in conjunction with telemetry duties.

Monitored and ensured smooth daily operation of the farm through proper equipment maintenance and husbandry practices. Implemented specialized breeding program for development of new colour morphs and pursued government funded feeding research.

Performed all aspects of field and office duties for a variety of environmental research projects.
