I develop and deliver imaginative, interesting exhibitions for in-house and online audiences: from concept proposal to research, curation, writing, editing and installation. I work on everything from temporary and long-term exhibitions and permanent gallery changeovers to public events and social media. My content informs the output of the Learning, Engagement, Digital, Marketing, Heritage and Collections, Museum Experience and Volunteer Guide teams. I negotiate loans and licenses; engage with 2D and 3D designers, external curators and other contractors; localise travelling exhibitions; research new acquisitions for the museum's collection; and liaise with cultural institutions, lenders and donors, private and government stakeholders and the public.

Australian Parliament House, Canberra

I developed and delivered exhibitions on Australian social, political and art history for display in the temporary galleries at Australia's Parliament House. I also crafted interpretive text to engage visitors about works in the Parliament House Art Collection by contemporary and Indigenous artists including Howard Arkley, John Brack, Ben Quilty, Niningka Lewis, Jon Cattapan, Vera Cameron and Robert Owen. I presented talks to visitors and staff; co-developed online and socal media content; and fostered effective professional relationships with private and institutional lenders and internal stakeholders.

I managed the production and installation of two interactives now located in the Questacon forecourt. I planned budgets and timeframes, managed contractors, procured exhibition components and liaised with internal and external stakeholders. I was also responsible for the transportation of three travelling exhibitions to the United Arab Emirates, Brunei and Thailand.

I researched, verified and edited entries for the 'Biographical Dictionary of the Australian Senate'. This demanded critical analysis of Parliamentary documents, publications and databases; legislation; case law; oral histories; military records; political party records; and other archival sources. I also liaised with authors, editors and government and non-government stakeholders.

I researched, wrote and verified historical content for the online interactive timeline ‘Exploring Democracy’.

I researched objects for acquisition into the National Historical Collection. Objects I assessed have been displayed in the Gallery of First Australians, the Landmarks gallery, 'Spirited: Australia’s Horse Story' and 'Not Just Ned: A True Story of the Irish in Australia'. I also pitched exhibition concepts; wrote exhibition text, articles and online content; answered public research enquiries; and presented at the Museums Australia conference.

I discovered and critically analysed resources for academic papers, book chapters and monographs; and maintained a database and website 'Representations of Antarctica'. I also copy-edited and indexed 'Reading Popular Physics' (by Elizabeth Leane; Aldershot: Ashgate, 2007). This title was shortlisted for the 2007 British Society for Literature and Science Book Prize.

I copy-edited and verified 'Reading Robinson: Companion Essays to Friendly Mission' (Anna Johnston and Mitchell Rolls, eds. Hobart: Quintus Publishing, 2008). This title accompanied the republication of N. J. B. Plomley’s work on Indigenous and colonial history, 'Friendly Mission: The Tasmanian Journals and Papers of George Augustus Robinson, 1829-1834'.

My research, writing and stakeholder consultation created 'Minimising the Swift Parrot Collision Risk', a report recommending guidelines for bird-safe building design. This report has since been used by the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts; Telstra; and the University of Tasmania’s School of Architecture.

I produced the innovative guidebook/manual 'Feral Animals of Tasmania'. This required text and image research, writing and extensive stakeholder consultation.

My content for the Shark Bay World Heritage Area website interprets Shark Bay’s World Heritage values and management; flora, fauna, geography and geology; and Indigenous and non-Indigenous histories.

I created educational products to improve community understanding of Shark Bay’s natural and cultural history and values. I researched and wrote interpretive signage and publications; delivered talks to the public, government, academia and community groups; briefed contractors and engaged with government, non-government and Indigenous stakeholders.

My roles demanded diverse research, analysis and liaison skills and knowledge of Antarctic law, policy and natural and cultural history management. My coordination of an expedition to conserve Mawson’s Huts Historic Site entailed briefs and correspondence for the federal Environment Minister, Parliamentary Secretary and the Australian delegation to the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting; conservation management plans; environmental impact assessments; and extensive consultation with national and international stakeholders. I also conducted heritage assessments at Casey Station, coordinated Qantas Antarctic overflights, and provided production assistance for the documentary 'Frank Hurley: The Man Who Made History' (directed by Simon Nasht, Real Pictures, 2004).

I was a member of a four-person editorial team entrusted to achieve the timely publication of monthly magazine. My duties included text and picture research and verification; writing; editing; proofreading; and extensive liaison with editorial consultants, graphic designers, legal personnel, marketing personnel and printers, most of whom were based overseas.
