Operations Process Engineer in the Whiteside Technical Team at Queensland Alumina, one of the world's largest alumina refineries by production capacity. My role is to provide ongoing technical recommendations, improvements and solutions for the Precipitation Operations Team. - Coordinating level 2 risk assessments, participating in HAZOPs for trials/projects - Proactively initiating improvements in personal safety and/or process safety - Proactively forecasting and communicating the Precipitation area’s flow capability based on production plan- Developing process plans and actively seeking windows for section maintenance opportunities to minimise production impact- Developing and improving standardised tools and trends for routine process checks

- Providing technical support to the Central Control Room in regular monitoring of key production KPIs - Work alongside Operations and Maintenance shift teams to troubleshoot and recommend actions to eliminate key plant bottlenecks to maximise production while delivering in-spec product to the smelters.

- Site-wide planning, coordinating and optimising operational processes and equipment outages to minimize or prevent impacts to daily plant production - Proactively working with area owners across departments to develop and implement operational plan and make necessary adjustments to improve overall equipment residual life.

- Coordinated monthly technical team safety meeting - Conducted project work and risk assessments, including investigation into process impacts on residue discharge dissolved oxygen and spent liquor heater performance improvements - Carried out and improved QAL's month end reconciliation- Developed alumina loadout performance PowerBI dashboard - Investigated process upsets and incidents and recommended appropriate solutionsIn October 2022, alongside my two colleagues from QAL and BSL, we organised the first QAL-BSL-RTAY cross-site graduate networking event in Gladstone, Queensland. For the three-month period, my role was to assist with improvement projects for the Reduction Lines Technical Team. - Analysed aluminium reduction cells optimisation opportunities through phosphorus sources investigation- Carried out bath sampling trials for hypotheses validation- Provided recommendations for cell chemistry optimisation and operational actions- Carried out measurements of cell external resistances to validate cell to riser contact and current distribution

Summer Research Scholar at the University of Queensland Dow Centre of Sustainable Engineering Innovation. Dow Centre aims to deliver solutions and innovations for globally significant challenges for sustainable production and use of energy and materials. For the three-month period, my role was to assist in modelling the methane pyrolysis reaction in a liquid membrane reactor. This was a proposed COx-free technology with the potential of high-yield hydrogen production. - Developed a MATLAB model of the methane pyrolysis reaction in a liquid membrane reactor- Analysed the effect of different parameters to methane conversion and hydrogen yield in the pyrolysis reaction - Provide recommended parameters which could improve the thermodynamic equilibrium of the methane pyrolysis reaction at lower operating conditions.

Salads and More is located at the heart of Brisbane City and specialises in sandwiches and salads freshly made daily.
