Laboratory Coordinator for the microbiology and serology departments.

Generalist MLS, working various day-evening shifts with weekends, with an ongoing interest in additional PI projects. I am focused on improving safety in the lab as well as assessing test systems and workflow options often to improve patient care.Responsibilities include:-Rotations in all department sections, including blood bank, hematology and hemostasis, clinical chemistry, serology, microbiology, and urinalysis-Assisting the technical supervisors in reviewing specimen reports and other needs as assigned-Serving as a liason for POCT for nursing and other ancillary staff, primarily on weekends-Staining slides for pathologist review during frozen sections-Routine QC and calibration as well as daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on instrumentation used in all departmentsInstrumentation:Beckman Coulter UniCel DxH 800 Systems , Siemens BCS XP, Sysmex CA-1500, ACL Top 300 CTS, Haemonetics TEG, Cobas u411, Siemens Dimension Vista, ADVIA Centaur CP, Galileo Echo, and BD Bactec. Simple serology systems and the Quidel Sofia system.POC devices utilized include Abbott i-STAT, Nova StatStrip, Clinitek, GEM Premier, Medtronic HMS, AVOX, Hemochron SignatureElite.LIS: Meditech, RALS Data Management

At CCMH, I completed my clinical rotations for my degree in clinical laboratory science. I was involved in all sections of the laboratory, with practical working experience in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, and serology.Responsibilities included:-Processing specimens for all departments, including verifying patient identity, specimen integrity, and emphasis for STAT specimens-Performing manual microscopic components for hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis-Release of results, including the proper notification and documentation of laboratory critical values-Routine calibration and quality control on core lab instrumentationInstrumentation:Beckman Coulter LH750, Stago STA Compact, Urisys 2400, Medtox cassettes with reader, Roche Cobas 8000 (c501 and e601), Abbott Architect i1000sr, Galileo Echo, Meridian illumigene, BacT Alert System, and Microscan Walkaway. Rapid serology included multiwell ELISAs, latex agglutination, and other simple systems.LIS: McKesson Horizon Lab.

-Conducting experimental trials in drug synergy studies for the treatment of colorectal carcinoma cells as well as metastatic breast cancer cells- Procedures performed in the laboratory include immunohistochemistry protocols on paraffin slides, drug dosing of cells, CyQuant assay for determing drug efficacy, Western blots, preparation/dilution of various materials, and procurement of organs from murine studies

-Preparation of the laboratory for use including the collection and distribution of chemicals-Assisting students in the completion of the experiments, troubleshoot problems regarding chemical reactions-Grading papers as well as enter grades into the database in a timely manner, proctoring of midterm and final exams-Enrolled as a student and successfully completed the labs for analytical chemistry, anatomy and physiology (two semesters), general botany, general zoology, immunology, microbiology, and organic chemistry (two semesters).
