I work full-time as a veterinary technician in the critical care unit of Sage Redwood City. My day today can involve caring for straightforward post operative patients to more complicated medical, and/or traumatic cases. I take pride in the care that I give to my patients and try to go above and beyond for them and their parents. Additionally, I love having opportunities to learn new things as veterinary medicine is always expanding, and I love having opportunities to teach what I know to others as well. UPDATE 10/2023 I now work full time in the neurology department handling all clinical aspects of the department such as assisting with client consultations and rechecks, diagnostic sampling, and nurse anesthetist for sedated procedures and surgery.

Registered veterinary technician responsibilities for the on-site sea turtle rehabilitation center and the offsite, partnered, Florida wildlife Hospital (FWH). At FWH, I worked autonomously based on my experiences, knowledge, and hospital set protocols to triage and implement medical treatment plans under the supervision of the veterinarians at the Brevard Zoo. I worked with a wide variety of species of birds, mammals, and reptiles.

Responsible for providing technical and medical assistance in the care and treatment of all animals maintained by the GSTC under the general supervision of the Rehabilitation Program Manager and veterinarian. Responsible for husbandry and care of a wide variety of wild birds and reptiles in a rehabilitation setting, as well as the medical, surgical, and rehabilitation procedures and tasks. Creates weekly treatment schedule to ensure all animals in care are evaluated by the attending veterinarian. Manages the daily flow and prioritizes treatments, examinations, and procedures to maximize resources. Operates diagnostic equipment (endoscopy, radiology, clinical pathology, parasitology, etc.) Develops and maintains maintenance logs for all hospital equipment. Develops and implements training for the operation and maintenance of all hospital equipment. Develops teaching itineraries for veterinary externs, interns, and volunteers about rehabilitation/caretaking protocols in the hospital. Maintains medical equipment and supplies in clean, orderly, and working condition. Assists with supervising and coordinating hospital volunteers and interns under the direction of the Rehabilitation Program Manager. When appropriate, enthusiastically participates in public outreach and educational programming, including special tours, public and private education programs, and daily visitor interactions/educational interpretation.
