I have spent the last ten years delivering technical assistance and professional development to professionals serving students with visual impairments at Education Service Center Region 11. As the Statewide Coordinator for the Texas Sensory Support Network, I work closely with the Texas Education Agency to craft training and guidance documents.My passion for serving students and adults with disabilities has only grown through the years. Since obtaining my master’s degree in special education, I have continued to study the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and state laws to improve my ability to advocate for the specific needs of students and adults. I have attended courses related to online accessibility to improve my ability to serve as the volunteer webmaster for the Texas Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired. My personal goal of improving services, access and education for students with learning differences continues to guide my choices. I am excited to embark on another journey in my educational career to learn new tools to advocate and work to change outcomes for students and adults with disabilities.
