An educator with almost 20 years experience in K-16 contexts, my research and development of pedagogical interventions focuses on constructivist approaches to language acquisition and the intentional incorporation of digital and mixed-reality tools in learning experiences. I have designed and implemented mixed-reality communication and language learning experiences for various educational and professional contexts. My most recent publications focus on the tenets of mixed-reality experience design, the positive affordances of digital tools for the development of pragmatic and intercultural competence, and narrative framing within the promotion of educational policies. I have presented nationally and internationally on best practices for planning, instruction, professional collaboration, and the intentional incorporation of digital tools in the world language classroom. My side projects include teaching as much as possible and the development of game-based and game-like learning scenarios to support educational and professional community access.My current research focuses on issues related to language and power and how inclusion can be better realized with an understanding of how diverse communicative norms manifest across people and people groups.I hold an M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of New Mexico and am on track to graduate from the University of Tennessee with my EdD in Spring 2025. Before working at CASLS, I served as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Coordinator at a public high school in Tennessee.
