I help academics, medical professionals, and pharmaceutical labs do amazing things by offering efficient, effective glycan and GAG analysis as a member of the CCRC's Analytical Services Labs.Examples of service work done for the CCRC include: --glycomics analysis --peptide and glycopeptide mapping ; protein characterization, --peptide fingerprinting and USP characterization--monosaccharide analysis--glycosaminoglycan analysis

Graduate research at WVU focused on phospholipid-assisted separations of small biomolecules including proteins, glycans, and DNA. Phospholipid-based separations provide enhanced separations and a convenient method of incorporating bioselective proteins (such as enzymes or lectins) into the capillary. This research has been published in a number of journals including Analytical Chemistry and Electrophoresis. This research has also been used for the in-capillary analysis of the therapeutic antibody Trastuzumab (Genentech - Herceptin). Other research included: cellular expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF),bio-manipulation of whole IgG antibodies (Fab' fragment preparation, bio-labeling, etc), attachment of Fab' fragments to gold-coated microcantilever AFM tips for bio-diagnostic development, MEKC-based separations of steroids from fish plasma, Mentored numerous undergraduate and new graduate students in their research in the Holland group.

Instructed numerous undergraduate labs (freshman-junior level courses: general chemistry and analytical chemistry). Course sizes ranged from 25-30 students, and duties included introducing new material and guiding students through the written laboratory experiments in a safe environment.

Provided support services. Duties included sample preparation, gelelectrophoresis, single cell gel electrophoresis (COMET assay), enzymatic assay, animal studies, etc.Experience Using the AutoComet (R) - automated image acquisition assay platform.
