Phospholipid-based separations provide enhanced separations and a convenient method of incorporating bioselective proteins (such as enzymes or lectins) into the capillary. This research has been published in a number of journals including Analytical Chemistry and Electrophoresis. This research has also been used for the in-capillary analysis of the therapeutic antibody Trastuzumab (Genentech - Herceptin). Other research included: cellular expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF),bio-manipulation of whole IgG antibodies (Fab' fragment preparation, bio-labeling, etc), attachment of Fab' fragments to gold-coated microcantilever AFM tips for bio-diagnostic development, MEKC-based separations of steroids from fish plasma, Mentored numerous undergraduate and new graduate students in their research in the Holland group. -
